Description
This kiri wood chest is from the early Meiji Period (1860 -1880) and measures 46.5 inches wide, 34.5 inches high, and 17 inches deep. This is a fine example of tansu craftmanship and includes hand forged metalwork. This all purpose Japanese chest has diverse drawers to hold clothes and a variety of other items. There is some wear on the finish on the front base and on the top which is easily covered with the included glass top. The key to the lock on the small door is missing. This item was purchased by the donor in Japan.
