Description
This Thig Le, or Mirrorlike Essence pendant, is breathtaking in its simplicity and refinement. The pendant comes to us from Nam Chai Jewels Ltd., a privately owned, jewelry design company and frequent advertiser in the Shambhala Sun.
Sally Sizemore, Designer/Director for Nam Chai says of the pendant that it is "an 18k gold representation of the Tibetan term, thig le, which translates roughly as 'mirrorlike essence' and refers to the nature of all phenomena. It's a symbol found in Dzogchen studies; the path I've been fortunate to stumble onto. I looked at this symbol in texts, which is shown as a flat disc with the 3 points in the 4 directions, and I thought it could be an excellent inspirational piece of jewelry, and also a respectful way to interpret this powerful symbol (with gold, a precious metal). I initially set it with aquamarine, as a more ethereal gem, but prefer the rubies. Their color is more relevant (monk's robes), and they are also more precious. Ideally, it should be bought and worn as an inspiration to practice. That was the idea behind the making, and also an homage on my part to the dharma." We hope you'll agree.
The company "supports family workshops with master goldsmiths who cut from sheets of gold to craft beautiful work using hands, tools and fire." There is no inventory of Thig Le pendants, for instance, waiting to go out the door. The pendant you receive will have been made just for the auction and the successful bidder. Nam Chai Jewels is pleased to be able to describe itself as "a small fish, swimming thoughtfully in a big pond."
