Two (2) Main Box Yankees Tickets for 4/7/08 vs. Tampa, 7 pm
The New York Yankees finished 2007 in second place in the American League East and their record was 94–68. They lost the American League Division Series to the Cleveland Indians. They re-signed catcher Jose Posada, right-handed pitcher Mariano Rivera, right fielder Bobby Abreu and third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who was named the AL MVP for 2007. Rodriguez and the team agreed to a $30 million marketing agreement, and he will start the 2008 season with 518 career home runs. The Yankees signed right-hander Scott Patterson to a Major League deal, also catcher Francisco Cervelli and right-handed pitchers Jeffrey Marquez and Jeffrey White to their roster. They also plan to make pitcher Joba Chamberlain a starter in 2008. Pitching coach David Eiland believes Chamberlain should be made a starter with his high-90s fastballs and stinging sliders. Manager Joe Girardi will be keeping some of his 2007 coaching staff, like hitting coach Kevin Long and first-base coach Tony Pena. David Eiland was promoted to pitching coach and Rob Thomson to bench coach. The Florida Marlins' third-base coach Bobby Meacham and bullpen coach Mike Harkey have also joined the Yankees. www.Yankees.com Donated by Kyle Gordon Family
