Description

This hand-made Ming Porcelain necklace is 17.5" long. The pendant is 2" L x 1" W, with chalk turqoise silver-plated beads.

During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), traders brought pieces of porcelain to the West through Southeast Asia, via the Chao Phraya River. Many of these ships never made it to their destinations due to storms, piracy, and other disasters. Today there are only a few families in Thailand that dive into the river to retrieve these sunken treasures. Most of these pieces have been broken and hundreds must be brought up to find shards large enough for jewelry.
