2003 Marimar Estate Chardonnay Magnum

Description
You will enjoy this Magnum of 2003 Marimar Estate "Don Miguel Vineyard" Chardonnay, organically grown and bottled on the estate. The vineyard was named after the late patriarch of the Torres family. The vineyard's 30 acres of Chardonnay are planted in three different clones. The blend of clones in the 2003 vintage is 55% See, 34% Rued and 11% Spring Mountain.
Nestled in the rolling hills of western Sonoma County, the Russian River/Green Valley appellation is a perfect microclimate for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Only 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 50 miles north of San Francisco, the site is influenced by the sea's cooling breezes and drifting fog. That is why Marimar Torres selected this privileged location to "export" the Torres family legacy of fine wines to California.
"After experimenting for several years with a few blocks of vines, in 2003, we decided to make the jump to the entire vineyard," says winery founder, Marimar Torres. "The whole idea is to create an ideal balance between the vines and nature. The vineyard will be ecologically healthier, and the grapes of higher quality. That's our long-term reward."
Tasting Notes
Attractive aromas of fresh apple and pear - significant of the See clone - plus honeysuckle and gardenia from the Rued; the Spring Mountain contributes a distinctive touch of honey and the classic spice reminiscent of nutmeg. Complex, creamy mouthfeel, with just a hint of tasty oak complementing its structure and lingering on in the end.
