This Talavera ceramic frog is a one of a kind, hand-painted work of art imported from Mexico. The style is influenced by Spanish, Arabic, Italian and Chinese art which was assimilated by Mexican craftsmen in the 16th century. Originally only a blue and white ceramic it was during the 18th Century that bright colors like green, mauve, and yellow were adopted.

Families of master craftsman are still using the techniques that have been passed down to them through the centuries. The ceramics are crafted through a process requiring two firings, which produces the unique color & sheen characteristic of the pottery. Each piece is handmade. The complex process takes four to six weeks for each piece.
