Description
Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa - Enjoy a five-night stay and a three-course dinner for (2) in 700 square foot overwater bungalow accommodations at this prestigious member of Conde Nast's 2006 Gold List and "One of the Top 500 Hotels in the World." The #1 rated property in the World for location setting in 2004 by Conde Nast. This 4-star resort sits on the north end of hilly motu (small island) Toopua out on the fringing reef, 1 km off Bora Bora, this Orient-Express hotel exudes Polynesian charm. It comes with a wide array of luxurious amenities. The resort has 44 Overwater Bungalows lined along three walkways arrayed from the beach over the lagoon. Each bungalow is furnished with a king or two twin beds and a private deck from where steps lead directly into the lagoon. The beautiful underwater sea life can be admired or fed through the illuminated glass-topped coffee table.
Guests are ferried from the airport or Vaitape village to where three large, thatch roofs sit atop the reception area, reading-and-activities room, gourmet restaurant and lounge bar. French Polynesia's largest pool complex lies at one end of the compound, while the other end shelters a restaurant that extends out over the lagoon. Dinners feature delicious French fare served at widely spaced tables with exquisite lagoon and mountain vistas, while calorie counters can graze the salad bar at an alfresco poolside grill.
Sail boarding, sail boating and kayaking are included in the rates, but guests pay extra for diving, fishing, lagoon excursions and shark-feeding expeditions. The waterlogged find comfort playing tennis on two lighted courts, working out in the gym, curling up with books in the library, playing billiards, surfing the Internet and shopping in the boutique. With treatment rooms built up in a banyan tree, the full-service Maru Spa is the most evocative in French Polynesia.
Accommodations are in 73, virtually identical, bungalows-50 of which perch on pilings over the lagoon. Every unit provides air-conditioning, divans, easy chairs, ottomans, safes, and armoires that hide stocked refrigerators and satellite TVs with DVD players. Desks and coffeemakers are in place, and beds are twins or kings. Polished wood floors and walls add a ship-cabin mien, and doors slide open to decks, some of which are poised above the lagoon. The spacious baths have large showers, phones, hair dryers and dual basins set in small vanities. Valid one year from event date.
Le Meridien Tahiti - Enjoy a two-night stay, (you may stay two consecutive nights or one night prior and one night following your Bora Bora visit) at this 4-star resort including daily breakfast for (2) in your choice of overwater bungalow accommodations (602 square feet) or Junior Suite accommodations (900 square foot) Located in the west coast suburb of Punaauia near the excellent Museum of Tahiti and Her Isles, this is a plush, architecturally impressive resort. The hotel flanks Tahiti's only sugar-white beach (most are black volcanic sand).
The indolent enjoy sunning on the hauled-in sand around the lagoon-style pool, while more active vacationers indulge in diving, snorkeling, waterskiing, surfing, four-wheel-drive expeditions into the interior, and dolphin-watching and sunset cruises. Guests can also pump iron in the gym.
Spacious guest rooms and suites, in two- to four-story buildings, have air conditioning, sitting areas with sofas, desks with phones and data ports, TVs, minibars, coffeemakers, one king or two double beds, and balconies with lagoon or garden exposures. Baths have tubs and stall showers. Some suites boast large covered porches. The pick of the pack are 12 over water bungalows with thatch roofs, queen beds, and baths with double sinks, baths and walk-in showers. Valid one year from event date.
