Description

12 Bottles Limited Production 2005 MacLean Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Vineyard Notes:
MacLean Sauvignon Blanc is unique because it is created entirely from a tiny bench-land vineyard north of St. Helena, California, from which we receive all of the grapes. This dry-farmed 1½-acre vineyard is 27 years old and is very low-yielding, at less than 3 tons per acre. The vines must send their roots down into the loamy soil to a depth of perhaps 30 feet to find water, thereby penetrating various rock and mineral strata. The leaf canopy is naturally sparse and the fruit receives dappled sunlight throughout the day.

Tasting Notes:
As a result of these vineyard conditions, the wine has significant depth and structure, with lime zest, mineral, spearmint, chamomile, and lemon-grass, aromas and flavors, and a very long finish.
