Description
Now that the library is functional the goal is to raise $100,000 for a library endowment to perpetuate the care of this wonderful new space for the life of the library.
There are two ways to contribute. Make a donation to the endowment fund or donate $100 and a book will be purchased on your behalf for the library and inscribed with a personal dedication inscription.
Some background information:
Our friend Katherine was a curious little girl who liked to explore. She was courageous in her explorations, as she would never hesitate to touch a worm or try a new food. Blessed with a sense of humor and wonderful laugh, Katherine would often joke with her father about being able to lift a large, old anchor they passed on their morning drive to school.
It was with her great courage, spirit, and strength that Katherine bravely battled a rare metabolic disease called Metachromatic Leukodystrophy or MLD. Loved and supported by her parents, family, and friends, Katherine was a first grade student at St. Mary's Hall-Doane Academy when she lost her battle with MLD.
Memories of Katherine are easy to find at Doane Academy, as she took pleasure in the small things, running across the playground, seeing a butterfly, flying a kite, drinking a chocolate milk, or just sitting in a comforting lap listening to a book. These small things inspired a big idea; a new lower school library in honor of Katherine.
