Description

Mitch Williams Baseball Autographed & Inscribed "Wild Thing"

Mitch Williams was a Major League Baseball Player (MLB) who made his MLB debut in April 9, 1986. Born November 17, 1964 as Mitchell Steven was nicknamed Wild Thing.

Cubs fans are responsible for this nickname as they would sing the rock song "Wild Thing" when Mitch Williams emerged from the Chicago bullpen in 1989, in reference to his explosive but uncontrollable fastball.

Williams is perhaps the most well known pitcher in Phillies history. "Wild Thing," threw the infamous home run pitch to the Blue Jays' Joe Carter which won the World Series for Toronto in 1993. Williams took that notoriety and turned it into a career as a baseball analyst, authority and commentator that Phillies fans have come to love.
