As an artist, ODU Associate Professor Kenneth FitzGerald works in a variety of 2D media and been exhibited in venues across the country. He is in a number of private and corporate collections, with artist books in the Museum of Modern Art/Franklin Furnace/Artist Books collection. From 1997–2004, he produced The News of the Whirled, a 4-issue limited-edition magazine, that was cited for excellence by the American Center of Design and AIGA. As a critical writer and/or visual essayist, he was a frequent contributor to Emigre magazine from 1996–2006, and has also been published in Eye, Idea, and Redaction magazines; the books Graphic Design and Reading, and The Education of a Graphic Designer volume 2; plus the online journals Voice: AIGA Journal of Graphic Design, Design Observer, and Speak Up. He’s also contributed forewords for monographs by Robert Appleton, Elliott Earls, and Stefan Sagmeister. As “collator,” he organized and toured Adversary: an exhibition (of) contesting graphic design, from 2001–2004. FitzGerald has lectured and presented at a variety of art and design conferences nationally. In 2004, he was a visiting artist/critic for the 2D Design program at Cranbrook Academy of Art, and in 2006, a guest on "Design Matters with Debbie Millman," an internet radio design talk show.

This item will be available for pick-up at our auction's closing celebration, to be held at Richard Stravitz Sculpture (1217 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach) on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 1:00-5:00 pm. If not picked up in person, the item will be mailed to the winning bidder no later than Wednesday, Dec. 10. Packing and shipping charges (with signature and insurance) will be added to the winning bid.
