Bahia is in the heart of the Northeast of Brazil, 1680 km. from Rio de Janiero, meaning Rio is south. The state that has the largest coast of all in Brazil is Bahia and the beaches are known all over the world. Salvador, has a population of five and a half million people and is third in Brazil in population. The state is rich in everything from petroleum to tropical fruits and has all kinds of precious and semi-precious stones.  Pousada Sarafina sits right on the beach, with just a road between the beach and the hotel.  The rooms are about the largest hotel rooms in Salvador, 40 mt.2 (forty square meters), that is about 120 sq.feet. There are four pools; one is private to our special guests from the hotel. Travel agency, transfer in/out, beauty parlor, breakfast/dining hall, meeting room, luncheon area are all part of the array of services that are offered. The food in Bahia is wonderful, especially the seafood. Rich and exotic would be a perfect way to describe the cuisine!
