Success in School: How to Help Your Child Thrive and Still Get into College
This thought-provoking program is “a must” for parents who want their kids to find a healthy balance between academic achievement and personal fulfillment. Denise Pope, Ph.D., has been a lecturer at the Stanford University School of Education for the past 8 years, specializing in curriculum studies, service learning, and qualitative research methods. Pope is an advocate of reducing the pressure on kids to succeed and argues against the “frenzied life” of getting into the right schools. Pope has found that students are coming in to college burned-out and anxious for all the wrong reasons. She describes the stress these students face and the causes and consequences of the high school "grade trap." She'll offer practical, research-based strategies for parenting teens during this high-pressure, high-stakes period in their lives.
