Description

Bid to win this one of a kind 3 dimensional piece of art measuring 6 1/2" tall by 8 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" deep.

The technique of true fresco is one of the oldest known forms of painting, with Etruscan and Minoan frescoes dating from 1700 BC and European cave paintings far older.  More than two thousand years later, Renaissance painters referred to fresco as the "Mother of all Painting", and today, we can certainly say that fresco is painting's greatest grandmother, still sprightly, sharp, full of life and humor, especially in the hands of Maine's best-known fresco artist, Barbara Sullivan.

Barbara Sullivan makes fresco paintings with a lively presence.  she faithfully follows the ancient technique but, unlike many artists working in fresco today, she does not quote from past imagery or subject matter, so her work is more like that of a hip sister than a great grandmother.
