"Back from the Brink - Montana's Wildlife Legacy" is a historical two-part award winning DVD about exploitation and depletion, need and greed and ultimately a story of restoration, renewal and rebirth of Montana's rich wildlife resource. Each part includes many historical photos, films, illustrations, paintings and interviews of old timers, citizens, sportsmen, historians, and wildlife experts. It has been and continues to be featured by Montana PBS TV. The DVD was produced by Terry N. Lonner, Media Works Studio. He worked as professional wildlife biologist for 28 years until he retired as Chief of Research and Technical Services for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Part One chronicles the depletion of Montana's wildlife during the 1800s and also features the beginning of Montana's conservation movement during the first half of the 20th Century. This part also features the introduction and restoration of upland game birds and waterfowl.
Part Two documents how Montana citizens, state and federal agencies and universities worked together to take action in restoring the state's once abundant big game and furbearer populations.
Both Parts One and Two are included on the DVD.

Softbound copy of "Montana Wildlife Legacy - Decimation to Restoration" is a recently published book that documents the most complete history of Montana's Wildlife Legacy ever written. It is over 300 pages in full color and contains illustrations, maps and historical photos never before published. Included are interesting stories provided by numerous individual interviews of Montana's wildlife pioneers and sportsmen. Documented for the first time, it is the only complete record of the thousands of Montana's wild animals trapped and transplanted as citizens struggled to rebuild their wildlife resource after wildlife was decimated in the early 19th Century.
This is a must read for anyone who enjoys and values Montana's wildlife.
The book was co-authored by Dr. Harold Picton, Emeritus Professor of Wildlife Management in the Ecology Department at Montana State University and Terry Lonner, retired Chief of Wildlife Research and Technical Services for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Together they provided over 90+ years of combined professional wildlife and conservation experience while researching and documenting the decimation and restoration of Montana's wildlife. Book is signed by the authors.
