Braided Sorrow: Since 1993, more than 700 women have disappeared from Ciudad Juarez without a trace. One woman knows the truth...El Centro Su Teatro presents the world premiere of Marisela Trevino Orta's award winning play Braided Sorrow a poetic meditation on the unsolved disappearances of hundreds of female maquiladora (sweatshop) workers in Juarez, Mexico. Orta skillfully weaves the stories of contemporary atrocities in Juarez with the Mexican cautionary legend of La Llorona--the weeping woman who killed her own children and is damned to roam the earth searching for them.
