Description
The beautiful watercolor painting is of an angled view of the Hermitage on Lake Maggiore, Italy. The Hermitage Santa Caterina del Sasso is a monastery dating back to the 13th century and was built from rock rising from Lake Maggiore. The colors in the painting are ochre and turquoise with sienna red accents which are indicative of the area. A bright sun illuminates the sides of the structure and creates deep shadows in the arcades. A small pot of geraniums introduces the viewer to a splash of color that carries the eye to the arches and the tower in the distance. The size of the painting is 15 inches x 15 inches, and with the frame becomes 25 inches x 25 inches.
Cherry Rappoli is a local Rocky River resident and has been painting watercolors for 30 years. She has painted many commissioned "Home Portraits" in the area, and also sells her paintings at local galleries.
