Description
David Batz, a nationally well known ceramist passed away suddenly about 8 years ago. He left behind some of his pieces of hand thrown bisque, or unfinished pieces of ceramics. Good friend and also nationally well known artist, Tom Balbo, was given these pieces to finish, by applying the glazes and doing the final firing. We are lucky to have one of those wonderful collaborative pieces. It is a grey stoneware plate, 9 inches in diameter, and glazed in celedon green and black with rust accent glazes. This is one of a series of complimentary plates. The remaining plates and other pieces of the David Batz/Tom Balbo collection can be seen at The Tom Balbo Gallery in Cleveland.
