Description

Knox County, a rural county, has a lot of trees and therefore a lot of people who work with wood. The community has a variety of families involved in timber harvesting and processing cut lumber. Moreover, many of the area’s Amish families do a lot of bird watching and take part in bird counts. The Knox County Farm Bureau working in cooperation with members of the local Amish community cordially invites you to enrich the songbird population around your home. The taller of the two bird houses highlighted in the picture is designed to be sparrow resistant, and accommodates the nesting habitat for bluebirds and tree swallows. The smaller of the two houses is designed to accommodate wrens and small birds that use common tree hollows for a nesting area.  Both bird houses are designed to be opened for cleaning and were made by Ivan’s Carpentry of Butler, Ohio.
