In the 1960s, Baird (left) won the AMA Grand National Enduro Championship seven straight years on 500cc Triumph T100 twins. After retiring from active competition in 1968, Baird went on to serve on the AMA Board of Directors. He was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999. In 2008, he was honored as a co-Grand Marshall for the AMA's Vintage Motorcycle Days.
