Extra Recess is an original oil painting based on the view through Mrs. Coombes' classroom window.
The first beams of warm spring sun unexpectedly shine through the clouds and the sky starts clearing. The apple blossoms are a fresh white against the blue sky.
The painting uses vibrant colors to express energy and vitality.
It attempts to capture the joy and excitement of running outside into the spring sunshine upon hearing the words "Extra Recess!"
It's an unexpected break, a breath of fresh air! It's time to just play!
The thirty canvases were individually painted by the students as a collaborative effort.
