Description

Music Teacher extraordinare Karl Gustafson will create a one-of-a-kind Dinosaur musical instrument especially for your child.

The Animal Harp is a wooden instrument with metal strings.  Its body is a hollow box in the shape of a trapezoid and it has 15 strings that cover a range of 2 octaves.  It is tuned to the major (do-re-mi) scale, and can be used to play familiar melodies.  It is a member of the zither family and is similar to a harp, but it is held flat across the lap or placed on a table when played, and the strings can be plucked with a pick or by the fingers.

"Connect-the-dot" song sheets, which will be provided with the instrument, can slide underneath the strings to indicate the order that strings are to be plucked to play songs and familiar melodies.

Advanced students can even learn to pluck chords with their fingers to accompany their own singing.  While the Animal Harp/zither is a musical instrument in its own right, it can also serve as an introduction to playing the folk harp.

Special Instructions

Item will be a dinosaur similar to the one pictured in the image. Song sheets will also be provided to get the student started.
