The latest technology of brain MRI shows enlargement and growth in areas of the brain used for musical training. The capacity for the brain to change and grow in response to learning is real and can be observed physically, tangibly. This training can be transferred to other areas of activity, such as memory, sports, the arts or education, and a life-altering experience for the child. The techniques are 75% mental and 25% piano practice. In between our lessons, practice sessions are short usually two or three times between lessons for five to ten-minutes per day.
My program is more than simply learning to play the piano. The goal is to develop brain awareness, learn how to use it with focused clarity, which will readily transfer to other areas of one's life. This is a life-enriching experience easily understood by the student. The thrill of learning through play and relaxed enjoyment is the goal of learning to play the piano.
Many decades of piano teaching have taught me that being a child is not easy. Compassion, sympathy and understanding what the child feels are only a part of my program. The most important thing is to develop a friendship of respect with the child and family so that learning can be accelerated and enjoyed.
