The Copper Dome pays homage to the substance that helped pave the streets of the Twin Cities. Just about every square inch of wallspace in this breakfast joint is crowded with flour memorabilia: signs, old labels, vintage bags, advertisements. But the decoration is mere flattery, it's the 30+ different varieties of pancakes, waffles and crepes that truly honor the maiden of the mill. A neighborhood tradition, locals flock here every day of the week to cut into fluffy stacks of cakes and crispy-on-the-outside waffles. Lacking the namesake copper dome, sold to a Middle Eastern store in 1981, doesn't make this place any less of an icon.
