This stunning origional encaustic painting commissioned for our fundraiser was created by local Grosse Pointe artist Birgit Huttemann-Holz.  Encaustic painting involves layering beeswax mixed with pigments and fusing each layer with fire. Birgit then uses a razor blade to thoughtfully scratch away the layers revealing parts of the painting that have been previously covered.

This impressonistic still life is created on wood and measures 31.5" x 28".  It is currently exhibited at the new Grosse Pointe Art Center in the Village, 16900 Kercheval (formerly Village Toys).
