Description
Portland Stage Company's commitment has always been to produce live theater of the highest quality. This season is no exception and you can use the vouchers to see one of these two great productions:
trying, March 31 – April 19, 2009
Judge Francis Biddle, the elderly and irascible former Attorney General, has little patience for his fresh-faced young secretary. But through battles over grammar and beliefs, their strained relationship grows into mutual respect, and eventually, true friendship. This witty and poignant account of the inevitable adventure of growing old was inspired by the playwright’s personal experiences as Biddle’s secretary.
The Drawer Boy, April 28 – May 24, 2009
Two middle-aged friends live a peaceful life on their small, Canadian farm. When a young actor arrives to research rural life, secrets from their past emerge, plunging them into the joy and pain of memories long since buried. This funny and bittersweet drama examines the nature of friendship and the power of the stories we tell to save ourselves and others.
