Description
Nothing commemorates Tiger Woods, his greatness, and his sheer determination to win better than the 2008 United States Open Golf Championship. The 108th U.S. Open, played from June 12 to June 16, 2008 at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California was arguably the best, and most entertaining, Open in history. In the end, Tiger Woods cradled the silver U.S. Open trophy in his right hand and limped toward the edge of the Pacific bluffs, each step as much a burden as the 91 holes he played at Torrey Pines for his 14th, and most memorable, Major Championship. Needing a birdie on the 18th hole to force an 18-hole play-off with Roco Mediate, a visibly-pained Tiger Woods rose to the occasion and sunk a dramatic 12-foot putt. The next day Woods again needed to birdie on 18 to force a sudden death play-off and again delivered leading to his remarkable victory. And two days later Tiger announced that he would be undergoing season-ending arthroscopic knee surgery. Just an amazing performance ... perhaps his most amazing ... by an amazing clutch athlete. Tiger himself called the victory "probably the best ever." This beautiful piece of Sports Art not only commemorates this unforgettable athlete and moment but also captures the spirit of determination and winning that Tiger has come to represent. Sports Gallery Quality Framed in thick mahogany, UV-protective glass, and black sued matting with gold trim, the display also a hand-signed Torrey Pines flag, two photographs from Tigers amazing 18th hole heroics and a descriptive plate. A collectible that will be passed down from generation to generation and a great gift for that special golf fan.
