Description
Carmel Foglia de la Pena is an artist with an extensive history. She has been painting most of her life.
In 1960 Carmel had her first one woman show. She subsequently exhibited, over a 20 year period, in the following galleries: Harcourts in San Francisco, Shanes of Menlo Park, Erickson in Palo Alto, Cole of Concord, Masters International in Campbell, Livingstons in Monterey and Chabot in Santa Clara. In the 1970s Carmel started yearly invitational art shows and sales at her studio and home.
For 35 years Carmel has taught children and adults in drawing and painting. She maintains a teaching and working studio at her residence which she designed in the hills above Almaden Valley, San Jose, California.
Special Instructions
Giclee prints are fine art prints made from a digital image with a high quality ink-jet printer. First a digital image is made of an original painting. This image is a high resolution digital file. Then Carmel works with the printer to refine the image, if necessary, so that it is a very accurate reproduction of her original work of art. The image is then sprayed directly onto artist grade canvas by a state-of-the-art inkjet printer. Archival quality pigmented UltraChrome inks are used. Pigment inks excel in permanence. On the canvas surface the different ink colors mix together to reproduce the colors of the original painting. This is quite different from the old fashioned lithograph type print where little dots of color formed the image.
Giclee prints on canvas look like original art you see in a museum. Framed canvas prints don't need to be covered with glass or other reflective material. This lets you see the art more clearly, without glare from a covering.
