Description

A late-1960s visit to Andrew Wyeth encouraged young North Carolina painter Bob Timberlake to pursue a career in art. It was a good move: His very first show, in 1970, sold out! He is known for painting reminders of the past, like old quilts, rustic homes, rocking chairs, and the inviting, bucolic cabin in this evocative piece. Timberlake was commissioned by the Postal Service to design a Christmas stamp in 1980. He later did the statehood stamps for North and South Carolina.
