Tichomerova is noted for her Russian folk art and this depiction of an Orthodox winter celebration in the Ukraine is a prime example. Note the innocence of the outlined characters - a recurring practice in this primitive art form native to the region.

This work, dating from 1989, comes from the personal collection of Gallery Z founder, Berge Zobian. Opened in 2001, Gallery Z spearheaded a new appreciation of The Arts on Federal Hill, with four new galleries having opened on historic Atwells Avenue in just the last year!
