Description
This collectible piece is indigo-dyed kasuri, mounted as a hanging scroll. Sometimes called ikat, kasuri is fabric woven with threads that have been pre-dyed, so as to produce a pattern. This piece depicts three friends of winter: Plum, bamboo and pine. A Harvard M.A. in East Asian Studies, Judith Dowling is a director of the Japan Society of Boston and a member of the International Society of Appraisers with extensive contacts in the East. She has been dealing in and collecting Asian art for nearly 20 years.
