Description
“Creamy and crisp, with abundant fruit character, mineral and toasty oak flavors.”- Rick Sayre, Winemaker
Rodney Strong Vineyards was the first to designate a wine from the Chalk Hill appellation in northern Sonoma County after planting Chardonnay here over 30 years ago. Named for its highly reflective white soils, the result of a deposit of ash from an ancient volcanic eruption, these soils are shallow, fast draining, and rather acidic. Cooled by the Russian River valley climate, vines are naturally low yielding, and produce intensely flavored wines with a distinct petrichor, or what Rod used to call "tongue on stone."
