Fox Ridge Cottage is located on the Cushing peninsula, overlooking the St. George River, a saltwater river that flows into Penobscot Bay. This gift certificate is for a one week rental, anytime of year, subject to availability (call Colin Wentworth at 207-691-7722). Year-round rental.

The house sits high on a hill, putting the rooms at the same level as the surrounding mature trees and giving it a "tree house" feel. With 300 feet of water frontage, Fox Ridge Cottage is a cabin-style cottage with three bedrooms and one full bath. Located just 2.5 miles from Thomaston, the cottage remains secluded and private.

Meticulously maintained, Fox Ridge offers comfortable living spaces indoors and out. It is easy to launch a kayak or a canoe from the waterfront - a perfect way to explore the shores of the St. George River, which runs from Thomaston to Port Clyde, and observe the wildlife that abounds in this area.

Fox Ridge has an open floor plan with exposed beams and a loft. A well-equipped kitchen, complete with full-sized appliances including a dishwasher, is open to the dining area and living room. Sliders at the front of this room open onto the large, wrap-around deck, complete with outdoor furniture and a grill. Dishes, cooking utensils, blankets are provided. No pets.

Fox Ridge is as comfortable for 2 as it is for 5 with three bedrooms and one full bath. The master bedroom, with one double bed, is on the first floor as is the full bath with shower and tub. Upstairs are two sleeping areas: The first bedroom has two twin beds and overlooks the woods at the back of the house. Cross the suspended "bridge" to the sleeping loft with one twin bed and a small, private deck overlooking the expansive yard and waterfront. There is also a washer and dryer in the basement for guest use.

Within a 20-mile radius of the cottage, the area offers fine dining, nightlife, chartered yachts, schooners, ferry trips to the offshore islands, art and maritime museums, hiking, fishing, swimming, golfing, health clubs and shopping. The Farnsworth Art Museum and Wyeth Art Center are located within 10 miles.
