This tool is #223 of 500 Limited Edition planes made by Lie-Nielsen Toolworks. It has been signed by Thomas Lie-Nielsen. The combination of Ductile Iron body, White Bronze cap and Rosewood knob on this #140 Skew Block Plane is unique to this 2003 edition, which also features an engraving of the individual serial number on its side plate.
This includes a tour of the manufacturing facility. Hours for tours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Lie-Nielsen Toolworks began in 1981 as an effort to make top quality hand woodcarving tools available again from a US maker and revive discontinued but useful designs so the average woodworker could obtain them.
Today we make over 50 types of planes, saws, spokeshaves and chisels. The quality of machining and finishing results in a tool that looks as great as it works and will be a pleasure to use for years to come. All items and gift certificates may be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office on One Park Drive in Rockland. Gift certificates will be mailed to the winners at no charge. If the winner is unable to pick up an item, it will be shipped to them and they will be responsible for all shipping and handling fees, which will be added to the winning bid amount. Items will be shipped and billed at standard industry rates.
