Description

Burlington artist Sandra Mudge received her MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Sandra’s collages and assemblages reflect a storytelling style, detailed with artifacts representing material culture and recycled materials. By rebuilding and embellishing them, Sandra gives damaged and discarded objects a new life. Kevin Kavanaugh is a skilled carpenter whose craftmanship and artistic vision is evident in his reconstruction of this old school desk.Kevin transformed the desk into a piece of art by altering its shape and reinventing the neck of the instrument as an arm of the chair.

This particular instrument was signed and dated by British instrument builder John Greenwood. Elements of his signature were used in the design of the piece.

The body of this cello has become one of Sandra's signature "faery" houses. It will be exhibited during Sandra’s solo show, held at the Langdon Street Café in Montpelier from November 16 - December 14.
