Inspiration for this chair:

Being drawn to fiber, I challenged myself to incorporate fabric into my design for this musical chair. I first gathered a number of fabrics with a musical theme, and then made the decision to feature a quilt square on the seat with a combination of these fabrics. I chose a quilt block called Twisting Star that would adequately showcase the musical fabrics. Then I painted the chair with the red/gold paints, and wrapped the spindles with the musical fabrics to complement the quilt square. Lastly, I applied a non-toxic protective sealer.

As I progressed with my work, I titled this piece by slightly altering the name of the quilt square. This musically-inspired chair, dedicated to my two talented boys and offered to the VYOA's 2008 auction, is called "Musical Twist."
