Jamaica Plain artist Liz Hastie started creating dolls more than 50 years ago when she and her mother spent an entire year making toys so that every child in her small village in England would have a toy for Christmas. Liz creates her dolls by hand, without the aid of a sewing machine. She starts with scraps of fabric from the costume department of a local theater and they evolve into animals or figures, full of personality. This figure needs a special home.
