Don’t miss this opportunity to own a collection of works by Boston’s finest sculptors. This is a limited edition (ten) and each edition is a pair of hand-crafted, matched cabinets containing thirty individual wall mounted sculptures – one by each member. “Collectors should understand that this is a time capsule, a point in Boston and BSG history, a point in time, never to be repeated.” says lead artist David Phillips.
These pieces are made especially for this collection. Earlier editions are in the collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Decordova Museum and Sculpture Park, and the Boston Public Library. As Boston’s only venue devoted exclusively to sculpture, Boston Sculptors Gallery features works in diverse media including traditional sculpture in stone, steel, wood and bronze as well as installation, multi-media and public/outdoor artworks.
Founded in 1992, Boston Sculptors is an artist-run gallery dedicated to presenting innovative, challenging sculpture and installation works. Originally located in a West Newton former chapel, its members inaugurated over 90 shows and received numerous accolades (Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Art New England, Sculpture Magazine, Art in America) and several Best of Boston Awards (Suburban Gallery Space 1995, Boston Globe Artist Exhibition 1995, 1999).
In catalyzing prominent local, regional and international exhibitions, the gallery forged a significant niche within the Boston art community. Nick Capasso, Associate Curator of the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, credited the group with the following: “The Boston Sculptors, one of the few cooperative sculpture galleries in the country, is among the most stimulating venues for three dimensional work.”
