- Picture of Don Lind, one of Utah's favorite sons in his flight suit, framed in a cherry, hardwood frame. Don was born and raised in Midvale, UT and was a Navy pilot with a PhD in Nuclear Physics. He’s the first astronaut to be both a pilot and a scientist. Don is also a talented artist and stated that while in space, the earth was a color of blue he’d never seen before. He flew on one of the last successful Challenger flights in April of 1985.
