World Famous Dancing Fire Kiln - An Exquisite Wood Fired Art Vase Signed by the Artist, Marc Lancet.  Special bonus book Japanese Wood Fired Ceramics, signed by the author, artist Marc Lancet.

Many people don't know that we have an internationally known ceramic art department at Solano Community College.  Professor Marc Lancet has established here, with the collaboration of the famous Japanese wood fire kiln artist, Masakazu Kusakabe, the Dancing Fire Kiln.  Now the artists and students want to create next to the Dancing Fire Kiln, a sister kiln, smoke free.

You are bidding on a beautiful, slender piece of ceramic art, an 18" flower vase, hand thrown and fired by Solano Professor Marc Lancet.

This handsome piece of art was fired in the internationally known Dancing Fire wood kiln at Solano College.  It features the rustic and natural beauty that characterizes the wood-fire process.

Vessels and sculptures are carefully stacked in the kiln, wood is split and stacked, and the kiln is stoked for 8 days.  The kiln chamber reaches a high temperature of 2400 degrees, and a natural wood ash glaze results.  Each piece that emerges from the firing is one-of-a-kind.

As an added bonus you will receive an author signed copy of Japanese Wood-Fired Ceramics, written by Professor Lancet and co-authored by famous Japanese Artisan, Masakazu Kusakabe.  The book alone sells for $45.

If you collect pieces of this amazing, natural art, you will be charmed.  If you are buying your first piece, you couldn't do any better, plus you get the book to help introduce you to the world of this aesthetic art form.

All proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Solano College Ceramics Department, and will go to help build the second kiln.
