Description

This is the Christie catalog released for the 1999 sale of newly discovered Marilyn Monroe personal property. The items were found in the garage of then recently deceased Paula Strasberg, daughter of Mr. Lee Strasberg and friend and confidant of Miss Monroe. The contents were those packed away after the actress's death and only discovered after the death of Miss Strasberg. Over 400 pages of very varied items; her book collection tells a much different story about the woman as does her art and record collection. Her used make-up and hair pins and rollers also tells a very different story, less about Miss Monroe, but much about contemporary culture and the Monroe Mystique today, and today's invasive society delving deep into the lives of others, exposing all and profiting from it. A hairpin was the least expensive item sold: that was $700
