Description

It's November 14, 1960 and Lerner and Loewe are on the cover of Time magazine in a fascinating, lengthy cover article by Henry Grunwald who spent three weeks with the authors during their disasterous, ill-fated out-of-town Boston tryout of Camelot.  Equally fascinating is the rest of the issue (which went to press hours before John F. Kennedy was elected President) featuring ads for the new 1961 Ford Thunderbird, $19 Florsheim shoes, new “pocket radios”  and news from Kim Il Sung, Castro, Jimmy Hoffa.  Spartacus and Never on Sunday opens; To Kill a Mockingbird is on the best-seller list, just behind Hawaii and Advice and Consent.
