California Tan first opened its doors in 1989 in a small seven bed salon building in Carteret, NJ. A 30 minute 24 Lampe Wolff tanning bed was cutting edge technology for its time.

Since then, we have continually upgraded our salon design and equipment to provide our clients with the most technologically advanced products on the market. At any time 80% of all the tanning beds in our salon are less than three years old and all tanning bulbs are changed by 75% of their projected life. We carry a full line of indoor tanning and outdoor tanning lotion from the world's leading manufacture's.

We have listened to your needs. We feature comfortable, luxurious surroundings; spotlessly clean rooms, the newest equipment and the freshest bulbs available in the industry. Plus trained and board certified tanning consultants with thorough knowledge of the up-to-date trends of indoor tanning. California Tan also provides protective eyewear and plush towels free of charge.
