Description
"BE THE CHANGE" and help your community and the environment by participating in a morning of service at Heron's Head Park. Pledge any amount to CSB and come with your family and friends on Saturday morning, May 9th (International Migratory Bird Day) from 9-12 to plant, mulch and weed while enjoying the beautiful wetlands and migratory birds. Each child will receive a "Be the Change" T-Shirt donated by Hands On Bay Area. Lunch will be served to our volunteers afterwards courtesy of your room parents and El Tonayense Catering, the top-rated (4-stars on Yelp) Taco Truck in San Francisco.
Heron's Head Park
Heron's Head Park (formerly known as Pier 98) is a 23-acre restored wetland owned by the Port of San Francisco and located at the base of the former PG&E Hunters Point Power Plant. The park has became critical habitat to more than 100 species of mostly migratory birds along the Pacific flyway and a variety of native and invasive plants - a hidden ecological treasure buried at the foot of the power plant, amongst forests of pampas grass, fennel, and California natives. Thanks to the efforts of thousands of student and community volunteers, Heron's Head Park is now one of the most vibrant wetlands on the Bay. More than 1,200 student volunteers serve as primary caretakers of the park each year - planting natives, weeding out invasives, and cleaning and maintaining the wild areas of the park. http://www.lejyouth.org/
ALL bids are welcome. The project goal is to raise more than $1,500 for CSB so please pledge generously. Bid high and invite your friends and family!
Special Instructions
All children will receive a t-shirt and all families will go for lunch afterwards.
Minimum suggested donation of $40, however, please be as generous as you are able.
