Description

Original Japanese Ink Brush Art

"My Favorite Animal" was a lesson in learning Sumi-e, Japanese ink brush painting, which the boys first practiced in the classroom with water and a brush. Next, with the help of Sheila Ghidini and a cadre of 3rd grade parents, the boys turned their studies into real Sumi-e art!  Each boy's rendering is unique.  Then Chiho Nagao (3rd grade mom) kindly wrote each boy's name in Kanjii (Japanese pictographs).  Don't worry - there's a key on the back of the artwork to determine which animal is your son's, if he hasn't already told you. The boys displayed a great variety of animal knowledge and artistic pleasure in creating this project, and we're sure you'll enjoy having this beautiful Sumi'e artwork in your home.

This item is the original, one-of-a-kind artwork.  It is an assembled canvas of Sumi-e paintings on Japanese cardstock, trimmed in gold, in a custom black 24 x 24" gallery frame from Photograph on Chestnut Street.
