Take a walk amongst the fields of golden sunflowers in the picturesque countryside of the South of France, the land of D’Artagnan, one of the Three Musketeers. From your home base, the romantic and majestic Château du Barthas, you are well situated to explore many culinary, historic, and tourist highlights of this famed region of France.

Your one-week stay at the stunning six double-bedroom, six bathroom (can sleep up to 12 people) Château from the 13th, 15th and 18th centuries is nestled in the lovely Gers départment of the Midi-Pyrénées in southwestern France. Follow in the footsteps of Henri IV of Navarre, King of France, who stayed at the Château when visiting his protégé, Guillaume Sallustre du Barthas. Perhaps during your stay you can catch the Tour de France (last year, the race passed by the nearby Pyrenees mountains, two miles from the Château), go shopping and sightseeing in the hustle and bustle of Toulouse, and dine in one of the three local restaurants that have been awarded with two highly-coveted Michelin stars.

Contrasting with the rich history of the Château and local area, you will be invited to a 90-minute tour of the Final Assembly Line of the Airbus A380 double deck airliner at the Jean-Luc Lagardère industrial site. You will witness how monumental sections come together in Europe’s largest industrial building after the sections have traveled all over the continent. During the tour, you will understand what it takes to create a behemoth of 1,200,000 pounds of weight at take-off, and to connect a total of more than 100,000 wires with a total length of more than 300 miles! This lot is certainly where history meets technology!

Details: The lot is for a one-week stay (ideally Saturday to Saturday) on mutually agreeable dates. Guests can use the kitchen, but must buy/prepare their own food. Specific timing of the Airbus tour to be discussed in advance with donors so reservations can be made. Lot does not include rental car or air transport. Nearest airport is Toulouse (TLS) with regular connecting flights from Paris.
