Description
This pistol will make an exciting addition to anyone’s collection. This 1865 Remington New Army .44 caliber Cap and Ball (Serial # 44832) pistol was used by a Union soldier towards the end of the Civil War. It is thought that it saw much more action during the Reconstruction Period. The pistol is in great condition and can still be fired.
The pistol has a bloody history. During that time, it was common practice to notch the butt of the gun whenever someone was killed with it. This pistol has 10 notches visible, along with a missing chip that may have contained more notches. The trigger guard is also bent and the story has it that the holder of the pistol fended off a blow by a musket causing damage to the trigger guard.
Don’t miss out on this chance to own a remarkable piece of American history!
