The first Majestic Production, "School Days," was presented for one evening only on Friday, July 19, 1991 at the West High Auditorium. The production was an original full-length musical that incorporated a cast of approximately 20 and a small orchestra. As years went on productions were added and played for several performances each; audience size slowly continued to grow. The first three years we rehearsed anywhere and everywhere we could find. In 1994, after becoming a victim of the City of Manchester's Janitorial Privatization, the Majestic was left with the task of either finding a new home or being forced to end producing shows.

In September of 1994 the Majestic signed an agreement with Sainte Marie Parish to renovate and use the vacant school auditorium in the former Sainte Marie School Building for use as a new (but temporary) home. The work spanned May, June and July 1995 and the new Hevey Theatre was dedicated on July 5,1995. With a new venue, Majestic was finally able to use funds raised more effectively and present bigger and better shows. The quality of Majestic Productions was starting to get known, and both the cast of performers and audiences were rapidly growing.

Where we are…

Majestic audiences have grown over 500% in the past five years and continue to grow rapidly with each and every season. In 2005 over 12,000 patrons enjoyed performances at The Majestic. We have added a second (and sometimes a third) weekend of performances for our mainstage shows. Our touring children's show continues to bring theatre to area libraries and recreational centers as they have for the past 15 years, and all of our productions continue to educate artists of all ages to the art of great theatre and music; over 250 artists appear in in Majestic shows each and every year.

With the addition of a full production season of 15 performances, community activities, and specialized theatre opportunities, the Majestic continues to growth with each and every endeavor. The Majestic is administered by an Artistic Director, a Development Director, and part time Education Director, and part time Technical Director.

Where we're going…

Majestic's commitment to the community remains the foundation of its establishment. Our existence at the Hevey Theatre has been quite desirable, but as we continue to grow it is apparent that Majestic's current home can no longer fully support the many programs and visions of the community center we know and wish The Majestic will continue to become. We are currently raising funds to pursue a new, permanent home for Majestic through the opening of the new Majestic Theatre here in Manchester. The Majestic Theatre Trust continues its commitment to improving the cultural arts in Manchester for anyone and everyone who wishes to be a part. We continue to serve artists of all ages through the Majestic Productions, Majestic Youth Company, and Majestic Teen Players. Although our growth has been tremendous over the past few years, meeting our operating and production costs continues to be a challenge as the Majestic continues to serve more and more community members with the same dollar. Your sponsorship, at any level, insures that we can continue serving the community through our already frugal budget, exceptional volunteerism, and earned income. Please contact us for more information regarding our many sponsorship opportunities.
