Running back Leon Washington was selected in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, who used the 117th overall pick, a pick they received from the Kansas City Chiefs as compensation for releasing former coach Herm Edwards from his contract, to secure the services of the Florida State standout. Washington quickly paid dividends, rushing for 101 yards on October 8, 2006, against Jacksonville and 129 yards on October 22, 2006, against Detroit, and establishing himself as an offensive force now and quite possibly for the future.
