Description
Historic Huguenot Street is offering a unique and rare opportunity for a Private Tour of this National Historic Landmark District in New Paltz. The Executive Director or Director of Public Programs will tour you and three guests through a selection of the Street’s famous stone house museums and give you a glimpse into the special treasures found in the organization’s archives. You’ll leave with a signed copy of “For the Village: The Story of Huguenot Street,” the recently-published 48-page book about the settlement and a hand-thrown vase based on the collections of Historic Huguenot Street and made especially for the Museum Shop in the DuBois Fort Visitor Center.
Founded by a small group of French-speaking Huguenots in 1678, the site today boasts seven colonial-era stone houses, a reconstructed 1717 stone church and the community’s early burying ground – all in their original village setting.
